Your identity. Your connections. Your control.
Effective 27 August 2026. This policy explains how RepuShield (Pty) Ltd (“we”, “us”) operates JustTapMe and handles personal information.
JustTapMe uses personal data to provide identity, discovery, connection, chat, events, safety, business and account-security features. We do not sell personal information. Precise location is not displayed to strangers. You can manage privacy settings, request an export and request account deletion.
1. Who we are
JustTapMe is a social connection service operated by RepuShield (Pty) Ltd in South Africa. Privacy questions can be sent to privacy@justtapme.co.za.
2. Information we collect
- Account and identity: name, handle, phone number, recovery email, date of birth/18+ assurance, profile photos, bios, profile variants and verification status.
- Social and content: connections, requests, messages, group chats, reactions, status/vibe, events, plans, saved items, ratings, reports and user-selected moderation evidence.
- Location and proximity: foreground location when you enable location-based features, coarse proximity/distance, venue check-ins and location timestamps. Exact coordinates are protected and are not presented as public stranger location.
- Safety: trusted-contact information you provide, Safe Journey/Date Safety status, check-ins and delivery records.
- Device and security: installation identifiers, device/platform details, session/token information, security/risk signals, crash/diagnostic events and abuse-prevention metadata.
- Media and permissions: photos, camera scans, voice notes/microphone content and files you deliberately upload. Permission access occurs only when a feature needs it and the operating system allows it.
- Business/payment: subscription status, transaction references, tickets, CRM/business-card data and payment-provider records. We avoid storing full payment-card data when a payment provider processes it.
- Verification: phone/email verification and, where enabled, selfie/liveness verification results from a verification provider.
3. How we use information
We use information to create and secure accounts; provide profiles, QR/NFC/Beam sharing, Radar, recommendations, chat, events and safety tools; prevent abuse; moderate reports; operate subscriptions; provide customer support; maintain reliability; comply with law; and improve product performance. AI-assisted features may use the minimum context needed for the requested feature and must not be treated as authoritative judgments about people.
4. Consent and permissions
Location, camera, microphone, photos, Bluetooth/NFC and notification access depend on the relevant feature and device permissions. You can refuse or revoke operating-system permissions. Some features will then be unavailable, while limited offline/local functionality can continue.
5. Discovery and location privacy
Radar is designed to use privacy-aware distance and capability signals rather than exposing a stranger’s raw coordinates. You can disable Radar location use, discovery visibility and exact-location-sharing capability in Privacy settings. Cached Radar may remain locally on your device for offline continuity until cache cleanup/logout.
6. Sharing with others
We share information with other users only as required by the feature and your settings—for example, a public/profile identity, connection message or fields you explicitly grant through Smart Sharing. Phone/email are not automatically disclosed merely because someone is nearby. WhatsApp handoff requires an applicable sharing grant.
7. Service providers
We may use hosting, email/SMS, payment, push-notification, verification, analytics/crash, mapping/location, moderation and AI providers. Providers receive only information reasonably required for their service and must be contractually or legally required to protect it appropriately. Store privacy disclosures must be updated when provider behavior changes.
8. Product usage analytics
When usage analytics is enabled in the app, JustTapMe records product events such as screen views, time spent on a screen, feature opens and named product actions (for example creating a group). We use this information to understand reliability, adoption, retention and which parts of the product need improvement. Product analytics is designed not to copy private message bodies into the analytics archive. The app provides a control to disable usage analytics and to clear the local analytics archive stored on the device.
9. Community Stars and interaction feedback
Interaction ratings are accepted only for supported verified interactions. Individual ratings and raters are not shown to the rated user. Aggregates are withheld until a minimum threshold is reached. Community Stars are not intended to determine a person’s worth and are not used to remove essential safety access or payment rights.
10. Retention
We keep information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described, security, fraud prevention, legal obligations, dispute handling and legitimate service records. Temporary content and safety/location data may have shorter feature-specific retention. Unattached media may be automatically cleaned up. Some shared records may be anonymised rather than deleted where another participant’s legitimate record must remain.
11. Account deletion and data requests
You can request an export or account deletion inside JustTapMe’s Privacy Centre. You can also use our public Account Deletion page. Our current deletion workflow provides a 30-day cancellation period before scheduled deletion/anonymisation. Where law requires specific records to remain, we retain only what is required and explain the category.
12. Security
We use authentication, access controls, rate limiting, session controls, abuse detection and encrypted HTTPS transport. No service can promise absolute security. Protect your device, verification codes and recovery codes and report suspected compromise promptly.
13. Children
JustTapMe’s people-discovery and messaging experience is intended for adults aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly permit under-18 users into adult discovery features. If you believe an under-age account exists, contact us.
14. Your rights
Depending on applicable law, including South Africa’s POPIA, you may have rights to access, correct, object to certain processing, withdraw consent where consent is the basis, request deletion, or complain to the relevant regulator. Contact privacy@justtapme.co.za for assistance.
15. International processing
Some providers may process data outside South Africa. Where applicable, we use appropriate contractual, organizational or legal safeguards for cross-border processing.
16. Changes
We may update this policy as features, providers or laws change. Material changes will be communicated through the service or website and the effective date will be updated.
